Reporting to the Director, Underwriting, Individual Insurance, we are looking to hire an Underwriter Liaison to work with our Toronto team.

Description

Reporting to the Director, Underwriting, Individual Insurance, we are looking to hire an Underwriter Liaison to work with our Toronto team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Sales Directors and Marketing Associates with underwriting-related questions while out in the field.
  • Act as the company’s contact person for paramedical companies on problem cases and coordinate the resolution of the same with the Underwriters and New Business Administrators.
  • Assist in locating unmatched requirements.
  • Communicate with external medical professionals and clients to explain and justify underwriting decisions made.
  • Handle requests for sharing medical information between iA and other insurers.
  • Handle facultative reinsurance decisions by matching them with the correct file and following up with reinsurers as needed.
  • Reply to emails and phone calls related to underwriting, including status updates, clarification of underwriting and new business guidelines, as well as requests for preliminary underwriting opinions.
  • Assist the underwriters and Director of Underwriting in providing field underwriting training and helpful tips at presentations or round table meetings in the MGA’s offices.
  • Review MIB follow-ups for cases pending in underwriting and files already issued.
  • Reply to requests for MIB code details.
  • Ensure that policy settling requirements are directed to the appropriate area.
  • Conduct periodic advisor and client experience surveys to the MGA offices.
  • Perform audits on various lines of business, checking adherence to company’s underwriting guidelines and procedures. Ensuring the risks accepted meet the mortality expectations priced into the Company’s products.

REQUIREMENTS

  • College Diploma with minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of underwriting, reinsurance and paramedical company processes
  • Knowledge of individual insurance products, particularly life, critical illness and disability insurance
  • Experience as a contact centre specialist is an advantage
  • Advisor and Client Experience-driven, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team-player
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with tight deadlines
  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Excel
